Before You Begin Configuration

Caution – Remove previous versions of the SunPCi software before halting your
system and installing multiple cards (refer to the SunPCi II 2.3 Installation Guide).
Perform a reconfiguration boot (halt; reboot -r), and then install the SunPCi II
2.3 software.
Caution – SunPCi software prior to Version 2.2.1 did not support multiple cards.
You must install a later version of SunPCi software before installing additional
cards. If you install additional SunPCi cards before upgrading to SunPCi 2.3
software from a version prior to 2.2.1, the system may panic. Conversely, installing
earlier SunPCi software after installing the SunPCi II 2.3 version may also panic the
system. Removing the added card(s) will prevent the panic if the machine gets into a
state where you cannot remove the old software. If you have not installed all the
cards, install them after reading this chapter. For instructions on how to install them,
see the SunPCi II 2.3 Installation Guide.
Before adding cards into an existing installation, ensure that old SunPCi software is
removed. You also need to clearly identify configuration files and cards before
finalizing your software configuration and starting the software. You should have
done this when installing the cards. See the SunPCi II 2.3 Installation Guide.
