battery

pets away from the battery at all
times.

Battery Removal

Make sure that the battery terminals
do not touch the motorcycle frame.
This may cause a short circuit or spark
which would ignite battery gases
causing a risk of personal injury.
All Models except Speed Twin 1200 and
Thruxton RS

To remove the battery:
Remove the seat (see page 71).

Disconnect
negative (black) lead first and then
the positive (red) lead.
Release the accessory connector.
Carefully
connector cable from the ECM unit
clips.
Loosen the fasteners on the ECM
unit.
Release the three connectors to the
ECM unit.
Carefully lift the ECM unit and place
to the side allowing access to the
battery.
Note
Make sure that the ECM unit is handled
with care during the battery removal or
installation process.
Detach the USB port socket.
Remove the battery strap.
Remove the battery cover.
Carefully remove the battery from
the motorcycle.
