Lubrication

At Fuel Injection Pump

1. Loosen fuel return line at fuel injection pump.
2. Operate fuel supply pump primer lever or primer button on fuel filter base (if
equipped).
3. As soon as fuel flow is free form air bubbles, tighten fuel return line to
specification. Primer lever is spring-loaded and will return to normal position.

Line-Torque 27 N.m (20 Ib-ft)

At Fuel Injection Nozzles

IMPORTANT: Always use a backup wrench when loosening or tightening fuel lines at
nozzles and/or injection pump to avoid damage.
1. Using two open-end wrenches, loosen two fuel line connections at injection
nozzles.
2. Crank engine over with starter motor for 15 second (but do not start engine)
until fuel free from bubbles flows out of loosened connection. Retighten
connection to specifications.

Line-Torque 27 N.m (20 Ib-ft)
3. Repeat procedure for remaining injection nozzles (if necessary) until all air has
been removed from fuel system.
If engine still will not start, see your authorized servicing dealer or engine distributor.

Do Not Modify Fuel System

IMPORTANT: Modification or alteration of the injection pump, the injection pump
timing, or the fuel injectors in ways not recommended by the manufacturer will
terminate the warranty obligation to the purchaser.
In addition, tampering with fuel system which alters emission-related equipment on
engines may result in fines or other penalties, per EPA regulations or other local
emission laws.
Do not attempt to service injection pump or fuel injectors yourself. Special training and
special tools are required. (See your authorized servicing dealer).
