To play audio CD, 'xmms' must be used with Digital Audio Extraction:
From the command line, type 'xmms'.

On the xmms application, select the "O" is the left side to see the pulldown menu.

From this menu select Options -> Preferences.

From the Input Plugins, select "CD Audio Player" and press the "Configure" button.

You'll then need to configure the Device and the Play mode.
To configure the Device, you'll need to set the Device and Directory as appropriate for your

system (e.g. Device /dev/cdrom and Directory /media/cdrom).
To configure the Play Mode, you'll want to select "Digital Audio Extraction"

Press OK.

On the xmms application, press the ">", you will then need to select the directory (e.g.

/media/cdrom) and files (or audio tracks).
Now press the "Play" button to start playing the CD in the Optical drive.

NOTE: The volume slider on xmms does not effect the volume; refer to the first two bullets above on
how to control volume of the internal speaker or front/back headphones.
NOTE: On the xmms application , if you select the "D" on the left side, the xmms application window
will be enlarged.
