[A] OPERATION A S A GENERAL-USE OSCILLO-
SCOPE
[1] Normal sweep display operation
1 . Press the P O W E R s w i t c h @
POWER LED @> lights.
2 . A bright line appears in the C R T center. If it is not in the
center, adjust its position to the center with the • POSI-
TION controller (T) . T h e n , adjust the brightness with
the INTENSITY controller (fj) , and the focus, with the
F O C U S controller (f|) as required for easy observation.
3 . Supply input signal into the C H 1 INPUT jack ® . Rotate
the V O L T S / D I V dial (2) to adjust waveform to ap-
propriate dimensions.
Set the MODE select s w i t c h (Q) to C H 2 , and the T R I G -
GERING S O U R C E select switch (§) to C H 2 . Then, sup-
ply input signal into the C H 2 INPUT connector ( 9 ) . Its
waveform is displayed on the C R T in the same pro-
cedures with channel 1 .
When the MODE select s w i t c h is set to A D D , the com-
posite waveforms of C H 1 and C H 2 (the algebraic sum -
of C H 1 + C H 2 ) is displayed on the C R T . In this status, if
C H 2 INV is engaged by pulling out the C H 2 T POSI-
TION, the algebraic difference between C H 1 and C H 2
(CH1 - C H 2 ) will be displayed.
The sensitivity of the A D D e d waveform becomes the
same as the value indicated by V O L T S / D I V provided
that tne same V O L T S / D I V value has been set for the
waveforms of the t w o channels.
When the MODE select switch (fj)
channel-1 and channel-2 waveforms are displayed alter-

nately in every sweep. In this case, the S O U R C E select
switch @) should be set to the channel to be syn-
chronized.
4 . The display on the screen will probably be unsynchroniz-
ed. Refer to TRIGGERING procedure below for adjusting
synchronization and sweep speed to obtain a stable
display showing the desired number of waveform.
TRIGGERING
The input signal must be properly triggered for stable
waveform observation. T R I G G E R I N G is possible the in-
put signal INTernally to create a trigger or with an E X -
Ternally provided signal of timing relationship to the
observed signal, appliying such a signal to the E X T .
T R I G INPUT jack @> .
(1) The selection of a signal that serves a s the trigger
signal is made using the S O U R C E s w i t c h @) .
* Internal Sync
When the S O U R C E selection is in INT ( C H 1 , C H 2 ,
LINE), the input signal is connected to the internal
trigger circuit. In this position, a part of the input
signal fed to the INPUT (5) or (9) jack is applied
from the vertical amplifier to the trigger circuit to
cause the trigger signal triggered with the input
signal to drive the s w e e p .
With the S O U R C E selector set to C H 1 or C H 2 , a
trigger is developped by the C H 1 or C H 2 signal
regardless of the MODE setting.
Setting the S O U R C E select s w i t c h
causes synchronization with commercial power fre-
quency.
