3. ELIMINATION OF UNDESIRED SIGNAL

COMPONENTS

The A D D feature can be conveniently used to cancel out
the
effect
of
an undesired
superimposed on the signal you w i s h to observe.
Procedure:
1 . Apply the signal containing an undesired component to
the C H 1 INPUT jack and the undesired signal itself alone
to the C H 2 INPUT jack.
2. Set the vertical MODE s w i t c h to CHOP and S O U R C E
switch to C H 2 . Verity that C H 2 represents the un-
wanted signal in reverse polarity. Reverse the polarity
by setting C H 2 INV as required.
3 . Set the vertical MODE to A D D , S O U R C E to V . MODE
and C H 2 V O L T S / D I V
undesired signal component is cancelled as much as
possible. T h e remaining signal should be the signal you
w i s h to observe alone and free of the unwanted signal.

Overshoot of square w a v e s , etc. can be measured in the
following procedures:
1) Supply signal into the INPUT terminal. Set the V . MODE
s w i t c h to the channel to be used, the A C - G N D - D C
selector s w i t c h to D C . and each switch so that ordinary
s w e e p is displayed. Then adjust the V O L T S / D I V and
S W E E P T I M E / D I V for easy waveform observation.
2) Turn on the V E R T I C A L V A R I A B L E s w i t c h to adjust the
amplitude to 5 div points ( 0 % and 1 0 0 % ) on the screen
as necessity requires with the • POSITION switches.
NOTE: W h e n the S W E E P T I M E V A R I A B L E switch is set
to U N C A L , the unit is set to RATIO measurement
mode.
3) Set the
cursor
mode
dance with the channel to be used.
4) Adjust the A REF cursor to 1 0 0 % .
5) Adjust the A cursor to a point overshoot at which is
to be measured.
6) Overshoot voltage ratio with respect to the 5 div
( 1 0 0 % ) point is displayed in the upper right part on the
screen posterior to R A T I O .
