(Q) MODE
Selects the basic operating modes of the oscilloscope.
C H 1 :
Only the input signal to channel 1 is
displayed as a single trace.
C H 2 :
Only the input signal to channel 2 is
displayed as a single trace.
A L T :
Alternate s w e e p is selected regardless
of sweep time.
CHOP:
Chop sweep is selected regardless of
s w e e p time at approximately 2 5 0 kHz.
A D D :
T h e waveforms from channel 1 and
channel 2 inputs are added and the sum
is displayed as a single trace. When the
C H 2 INV @
waveform from channel 2 is subtracted
from the channel 1 waveform and the
difference is displayed as a single trace.
@
POWER
Power s w i t c h . A press of this switch turns the power
ON.
(JD
POWER LED
Lights when oscilloscope is turned on.
(g)
_Q GND terminal/binding post.
Earth and chassis ground.
(15) C A L
Provides
approximately
square w a v e signal. This is useful for probe compensa-
tion adjustment.
@
INTENSITY (REAL)
Adjusts the intensity of trace.
@
READOUT INTENSITY
Adjusts the intensity of the characters in the R E A D
O U T line and the cursor. Full counterclockwise rota-
tion turns off the R E A D O U T function.
FOCUS/PULL A S T I G
F O C U S :
Adjusts the trace for optimum focus.
A S T I G :
Used to bring the waveform into the best
condition with the F O C U S adjustment by
adjusting trace and spot aberration. Pull the
knob to make a spot circular.
(§) S C A L E ILLUM/PULL T R A C E ROTA
S C A L E ILLUM:
Brightness adjustment of the scale
of the
rotate the knob to adjust brightness
to prevent halation caused by too
bright illumination.
T R A C E R O T A :
Use a screwdriver to adjust the
trace to a horizontal position. Once
adjusted, this control does not re-
quire frequent readjustment.
(§) EXT TRIG INPUT Jack
button is engaged, the

Input terminal for external trigger signal.
When S O U R C E s w i t c h is selected in E X T position, the
input signal at the E X T T R I G INPUT jack becomes the
trigger.

the trigger level adjustment has no
effect.
PULL S L O P E ( - ) : T w o - p o s i t i o n
Switch
Pulled out position selects negative
going (—) slope and pushed in posi-
tion
slope a s triggering point.
(§) COUPLING
Selects coupling for A C s y n c trigger signal.
A C :
Trigger is ac coupled. Blocks DC component
of input signal; most commonly used posi-
tion.
HFrej:
S y n c signal is coupled through a low-pass
filter to eliminate high frequency components
for stable triggering of low frequency signals.
T V
:
Vertical s y n c pulses of a composite
F R A M E signal are selected for triggering.
T V
:
Horizontal s y n c pulses of a composite video
LINE
signal are selected for triggering.
(§)
SOURCE
C H 1 :
Channel 1 signal is used as a trigger source.
C H 2 :
Channel 2 signal is used as a trigger source.
LINE:
S w e e p
is
t r i g g e r e d
( 5 0 / 6 0 Hz).
NOTE:
When the COUPLING switch is set to other
than A C synchronization may not be obtain-
ed.
In this case, set the COUPLING switch to the
A C position.
E X T :
S w e e p is triggered by signal applied to E X T
T R I G INPUT jack (§) .
(g) TRIGGERING MODE (TRIG MODE)
Selects triggering mode.
A U T O :
Triggered
s w e e p
signal is present,
sweep (free runs) in absence of trigger signal.
NORM: Normal triggered s w e e p operation. No trace is
presented when a proper trigger signal is not
applied.
X - Y :
X - Y operation. Channel 1 input signal pro-
duces vertical deflection ( Y axis). Channel 2
input signal produces horizontal deflection ( X
axis).
This operates regardless vertical MODE selec-
tion.
