Everything added to the hard
drive since you last backed up
the system will be lost after
you perform a factory restore.
When you install new software or drivers, or if you have
accidentally deleted important files from your operating system,
you may find that your PC does not work properly anymore.
Your Compaq Presario is equipped with a variety of
"QuickRestore" software tools to help you to recover from
software problems.
You can back up an existing system and restore your PC to
exactly the same configuration later. It is very useful to do
this after you have personalised your PC settings.
You can restore specific Compaq drivers for graphic cards,
audio cards, modems etc.
You can restore your PC back to factory settings.
To make this possible, your hard drive is divided into 2
partitions. The C: partition contains the operating system,
applications you have installed, and your personal documents.
The D:\ partition contains the files which are necessary to
restore your PC. After booting, a menu is presented with the
different restore options. For certain recovery options you will
need the Recovery CD provided in the box. Simply follow the
online guidelines.
Important: If you want to make use of Compaq's advanced software recovery tools,
it is essential not to delete any files from the D:\ partition. To be even safer, you
should not store any user files or programs on the D:\ partition.
