This procedure shows you
how to determine the size
of your hard drive and how
much free space is
remaining.
You should check the size of
your hard drive before
downloading or installing
software programs. If you do
not have enough free space,
you will receive an error
message and the program
will not be loaded onto your
computer.
1. Double-click the My

Computer icon on the
Windows desktop. The My
Computer window is

2. Right-click the Hard Drive

icon (drive C).
3. Select Properties from the
pop-up menu. The Properties
window is displayed. The
size of the hard drive and the
amount of free space
remaining are found under the
General tab.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Your hard drive is partitioned into two drives, the C
drive and the D drive. Your D drive contains important operating system
backup files and diagnostics.
These two drives together make up your total hard drive capacity; take
the size of both partitions into account when determining the size of the
hard drive.
