Bluetooth Glossary of terms Below are some terms used in this user’s manual to help you become familiar with using your Bluetooth devices and your new AT&T telephone system. Active devices - Bluetooth enabled devices that are paired to the telephone base and on the active devices list.
Bluetooth Bluetooth setup To use a Bluetooth enabled cellular phone with your telephone, you must first pair and connect your Bluetooth cellular phone with the telephone base. The TL86109 can then be used to make or answer calls on the cell phone line. Bluetooth wireless technology operates within a short range (up to 30 feet).

Call screening The call screening feature lets you listen to a caller leaving a message at the telephone base.
Telephone settings Answering system settings Number of rings When the answering system is turned on, it answers all incoming calls on line 1 and line 2 after the number of rings set. You can choose from two, four, or six rings; or toll saver. With toll saver selected, the answering system answers after two rings when you have new messages, and after four rings when you have no new messages.
Telephone settings Answering system settings Remote access code A two-digit security code is required to access the answering system remotely from any touch-tone telephone. The preset code is 19. You can change the code to any number from 00 to 99. Once you set the remote access code, the answering system automatically turns on.

Telephone operation Options while on calls Hold You can place a call on hold. You hear an alert tone at the telephone base if you have not taken the call off of hold after 14 minutes. You hear another alert tone at the telephone base 30 seconds later. At 15 minutes on hold, the call on hold automatically disconnects.
Telephone operation Options while on calls Chain dialing Use this feature to initiate a dialing sequence from numbers stored in the directory, call log or redial while you are on a call. Chain dialing can be useful if you wish to access other numbers (such as bank account numbers or access codes) from the directory, call log or redial list.

Telephone operation Redial Each handset and the telephone base stores the last 20 dialed numbers (up to 30 digits each) on the redial list. The redial entries of each handset and the telephone base are independent. Review the redial list To review the redial list of a cordless handset: Press REDIAL/ in idle mode.
