Control Panel
The control panel (located on the front of the chassis) must be connected to the
JF1 connector on the serverboard to provide you with system status indications. A
ribbon cable has bundled these wires together to simplify the connection.
Connect the cable from JF1 on the serverboard to the Control Panel PCB (printed
circuit board). Make sure the red wire plugs into pin 1 on both connectors. Pull all
excess cabling out of the airflow path. The LEDs inform you of system status. See
Chapter 3 for details on the LEDs and the control panel buttons. Details on JF1
can be found in Chapter 5.

You may need to gain access to the inside of the server to perform various main-
tenance tasks.
1. Press the release tabs to remove the cover from the locked position. Press
both tabs at the same time.
2. Once the top cover is released from the locked position, slide the cover
toward the rear of the chassis.
3. Lift the cover off the chassis.
Warning: Except for short periods of time, do NOT operate the server without the
cover in place. The chassis cover must be in place to allow proper airflow and prevent
