This rail set fits a rack between 26.8" and 36.4" deep. The following is a basic guideline for installing the system into a rack with the rack mounting hardware provided.

The cover is designed to open about 100 degrees and support itself in that position.

Hold the processor with the land grid array (LGA, gold contacts) facing down. Locate the gold triangle at the corner of the processor and the corresponding hollowed triangle on the processor carrier as shown below.

    Balance memory. Using unbalanced memory topology, such as populating two DIMMs in one channel while populating one DIMM in another channel, reduces performance. They can be removed or replaces individually by pinching the top and bottom release tabs. One or two fans should be removed to install or replace memory or PCI expansion cards.     3.8 Power Supply The chassis features redundant power supplies. The power modules can be changed without powering down the system. New units can be ordered directly from Supermicro or authorized distributors. The power supplies are auto-switching capable. This feature enables them to automatically sense the input voltage and operate at a 100-120v or 180-240v.

    Chapter 4: Motherboard Connections 4.2 Power Connections Two power connections supply the motherboard and several more supply for onboard devices. Main Power Connector The 24-pin power supply connector (JPWR3) meets the ATX SSI EPS 12V specification. You must also connect the 8-pin (JPWR1) and 4-pin (JPWR2) processor power connector to the power supply.
  • Page 57 The JTPM1 header is used to connect a Trusted Platform Module (TPM)/Port 80, which is available from Supermicro. A TPM/Port 80 connector is a security device that supports encryption and authentication in hard drives. It allows the motherboard to deny access if the TPM associated with the storage drive is not installed in the system.

    If you will be using RAID, you must configure RAID settings before installing the Windows OS and the RAID driver.
