About freeze protection valves
It is the responsibility of the installer to protect the field piping against freezing.
When no glycol is added to the water, you can use freeze protection valves at all
lowest points of the field piping to drain the water from the system before it can
freeze.
To install freeze protection valves
To protect the field piping against freezing, install the following parts:
a
a Automatic air intake
b Freeze protection valve (optional – field supply)
c Normally closed valves (recommended – field supply)

An automatic air intake (for air supply) should be installed at the
a
highest point. For example, an automatic air purge.
Protection for the field piping.

Install the freeze protection valves:
-
At all lowest points of the field piping.
-
In the coldest part of the field piping, away from heat sources.
-
Vertically to allow water to flow out properly.
-
>15  cm above the ground to prevent ice from blocking the
water exit. Make sure there are no obstructions.
-
>10 cm away from other freeze protection valves.
Prevent rain, snow and direct sunlight on the freeze protection
valves.
Insulate the freeze protection valves in a similar way as the water
piping, but do NOT insulate the inlet and outlet (release) of these
valves.
Do NOT make traps in the field piping.
