Brakes

Separate-action anti-lock brake system operated by
hall-type sensors mounted to each wheel with
phonic wheel detection: ABS can be disabled.
FRONT
Front brake discs
Type: with drilled steel disc. No. 2 discs.
Disc diameter: 320 mm (12.6 in) (Monster 1200).
Disc diameter: 330 mm (13 in) (Monster 1200 S).
Disc thickness: 4.5 mm (0.17 in) (Monster 1200).
Disc thickness: 5 mm (0.2 in) (Monster 1200 S).
Braking surface: 263 sq. cm (16.05 cu in) (Monster
1200).
Braking surface: 264.5 sq. cm (16.14 cu in) (Monster
1200 S).
Front brake control
Hydraulically operated by a control lever on
handlebar right-hand side.
Front brake calliper
Monoblock brake callipers with separate pistons.
Brake calliper(M4.32): 32 mm (1.26 in) cylinder
diameter (Monster 1200).
Brake calliper(M4.30): 30 mm (1.18 in) cylinder
diameter (Monster 1200 S).
Friction material: Toshiba TT2182FF.
Front brake master cylinder
Master cylinder diameter (PR 18/21): 18 mm (0.71 in)
(Monster 1200).
Master cylinder diameter (PR 16/21): 16 mm (0.63 in)
(Monster 1200 S).
REAR
Rear brake disc
Type: with fixed drilled steel disk.
Disc diameter: 245 mm (9.65 in).
Disc thickness: 5 mm (0.2 in)

Hydraulically operated by a pedal on RH side.
Rear brake calliper
Brake calliper: 34 mm (1.34 in) cylinder diameter.

Rear brake master cylinder
Master cylinder type: PS 11.
Cylinder Ø: 11 mm (0.43 in).
Attention
The brake fluid used in the brake system is
corrosive.
In the event of accidental contact with eyes or skin,
wash the affected area with abundant running water.
