CONTROL-1500A Single Axis Antenna Controller
Make sure that CC or CW is not displayed in the antenna position (POS) or polarization
position (POL) fields.
3. The 24 VDC Rot Feed Config mode item was toggled after the satellite was programmed
into the controller's non-volatile memory. Setting the 24 VDC Rot Feed Config item to zero
(0) configures the controller to interface to a Polarotor type polarization control device.
Setting the 24 VDC Rot Feed item to one (1) configures the controller to interface to a
rotating feed (requires the RC2KPOL daughterboard).

REMOTE Mode

POS
AMC 8
If Remote mode is active the controller only responds to commands received via the built-in
RS-422 serial port. Remote mode can only become active if the Remote Enable Config mode
item is enabled. If Remote mode is enabled, it can become active either in response to the
user hitting the Mode key, or in receipt of a valid command from the PC. The RS-422 comm
protocol and interface specifications are found in Appendix D. The CONTROL-1500 command
set is found in Appendix E.
The Remote mode screen is similar to the MANUAL mode screen. The only difference is that
the speed, "F" or "S", is not displayed. Only the Mode key is active when Remote mode is
active.

LIMITS Mode

Limits mode allows the user to set the software limits. If the controller powers up and the limits
are corrupt, LIMITS mode is automatically invoked. An error message ('!! ANT LIMITS') will
flash on the bottom row of the LCD when the limits are corrupt.
When Limits mode is active, there are not software-imposed restrictions on antenna
movement. Depressing the AZ CCW or AZ CW keys will apply voltage to the antenna motor
(unless the controller's thermal circuit breaker or electronic overcurrent sensing circuit have
tripped). The controller's software based jammed sensing system is disabled when Limits
mode is active. This allows the installer to energize the motors before the antenna position
sensor is interfaced to the controller.
If the antenna is equipped with mechanical limit switches, it is recommended that the user set
the mechanical limits before setting the software limits. It may be necessary to recruit a
helper to insure that the antenna is not allowed to strike any objects while it is being
moved.
Before setting limits, the installer must insure that the antenna motor drive polarity is correct.
See section 3.4.1. Note that polarization movement is allowed while Limits mode is active,
polarization position/limit information is also displayed.
