NOT MOVE PAST A PHYSICAL LIMIT. NOTE ALSO THAT THE CW AND CCW
POLARIZATION ADJUSTMENT KEYS ARE ACTIVE.

3.4.1 Motor Drive Polarity

The antenna motor is connected as outlined in figures 3.2 or 3.3. To check the motor drive
polarity, from LIMITS mode, depress the AZ CCW key and verify that the antenna moves
counter-clockwise as seen by a user located above the antenna. If the antenna does not move
in the proper direction, the wires connected to connector J2, terminals 4 and 6 need to be
swapped.
The antenna position sensor operation is checked by jogging the antenna and verifying that
the position count changes. Note that the position count will always decrease for AZ CCW
movement and increase for AZ CW movement. The count will not decrement lower than 1 or
increment higher than 65535.

3.4.2 Setting Antenna Limits

When setting limits, it is recommended that an assistant be stationed at the antenna to ensure
that the antenna limits are not exceeded.
To set the limits, invoke LIMITS mode and hit the ENTER key to get past the 'ENTER TO
PROCEED' prompt.
The controller will then display '7 – SET CCW' on the bottom row of the LCD to prompt the
installer to set the counter-clockwise (CCW) limit (as seen by an observer above the antenna).
Use the AZ CCW and AZ CW jog keys to position the antenna at the desired CCW limit. Hit
the 7 key to set the limit.
The controller will next display '7 – SET CW' to prompt the user to set the clockwise (CW) limit.
Use the AZ CCW and AZ CW jog keys to position the antenna at the desired CW limit. Hit the
7 key to set the limit.
After the CW limit is set CONFIG mode is activated. If the user exits LIMITS mode by hitting
the MODE key the limits that existed prior to LIMITS mode becoming active remain intact.
If the controller is powered down while LIMITS mode is active the controller's limits are
invalidated. When the controller powers back up the limits alarm will be active ('!! AZ/EL
LIMITS' will flash on the bottom row of the LCD).

3.4.3 Polar Mount Adjustment

The CONTROL-1500 is used with polar mounts. With a polar mount, a single linear actuator can
position the antenna over the entire arc of geostationary satellites. Figure 3.5 is a drawing of a
Polar mount showing all possible adjustments.
The Polar Angle (also commonly referred to as the Hour Angle) is controlled by the
extension/retraction of the linear actuator.
The Latitude Angle (sometimes referred to as the Elevation Angle) is set approximately to the
value of the antenna's latitude. The exact angle value of the Latitude Angle is equal to ...
