Instruction Manual X414-10
Introduction
The information in this manual covers the installation of the V235GLTA-1 Ground Loop Transformer. This unit
should be installed by a qualified technician using approved materials in accordance with national, state and local
codes. Read these instructions through completely before attempting installation.
The V235GLTA-1 prevents video-signal distortion caused by video ground loops. It differentially nullifies the AC
current that can occur in the video cable shield as a result of differing voltage potentials at each end of the shield.
The V235GLTA-1 has been specially designed for coaxial cable control systems such as Vicoax™. The passive
nature of the V235GLTA-1 does not affect the two-way communication (control/video) of such systems.
Installation
The V235GLTA-1 should be installed where runs of video cable are known to have ground loops. See Figure 1
for a typical system interconnection.
Warning: To avoid electrical shock, do not handle grounded objects and the ends of video cables
simultaneously.
Install the V235GLTA-1 as follows:
1. Place the V235GLTA-1 between the camera output and the first video component, such as a switcher,
coaxial cable control transmitter or monitor.
2. Connect the camera or receiver output to the BNC connector marked INPUT on the V235GLTA-1.
Note: Signals are attenuated by approximately 30% (3 dB) by the V235GLTA-1.
3. Attach another cable between the BNC connector labeled OUTPUT on the unit and the first active video
component in the system.
4. There are two holes (one on each tab) on the base of the unit can be used to mount the unit. Use screws
appropriate for the mounting surface to secure the unit.
WARNING: TO PREVENT RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT EXPOSE THIS UNIT TO RAIN OR MOISTURE.
