Entries on the Feed Computer
The ranges which have to be set in order to operate the feeders are:
1. Setup for the corresponding feed types
2. Setup for the feeding box (for automatic calf feeder)
3. Feeding details for individual animals
The DPSetup program in which the required settings are to be entered for points 1 and 2 can
be found under "1. Setup Menu (DPSetup)" under "Setup" in the main DP5 menu. These
settings are normally to be entered once when commissioning the automatic calf feeder. The
computer must then be rebooted again in order to ensure that the new settings are accepted.
If DP5 is already installed on the computer, it is imperative to check that the version instal-
led on the computer corresponds to the latest Internet update and if it does not, it must be
updated. DP5 users can download the latest version of DP5.0 from the Internet free of
charge (address: www.westfalia.com - ->Service for you).
1. Setup for feed type
The settings for the feed types required are entered in the "DPSetup> System> Setup Feed
Types" menu.
Feed types 4 - - 6 are the standard settings entered in the program for calf feeders (although
other feed types can also be selected and entered accordingly).
We recommend that this setup is used as the corresponding feed lists are also set up for
these feed types and otherwise they will have to be changed accordingly.
The standard settings are:
- - Feed type 4 = Milk Powder
- - Feed type 5 = Feed (amount of feed)
- - Feed type 6 = Extra (supplementary feed for the small quantity dispenser)
- - Feed type x = Milk*) (% milk in the amount of feed provided)
*) This setting can only be used with a combination feeder.
Feed type x = Milk: A percentage of milk can be allocated to the feed using DAIRYPLAN.
To do this, a feed type must be specified as "3. Percentage Milk" under "Feed Type".
Unlike other feed types, the other settings such as interval details, for example, can be dis-
pensed with for the feed type specified as "Percentage Milk".
When making up the feed, part of the water will be replaced by the corresponding percen-
tage of milk according to the feeding details for the individual animal.
(In the case of automatic calf feeders which only have a single heating circuit (HE1 circuit),
the percentage of milk must be at least 30%).
