MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES – ALL
MODELS

Check Tire Pressures

Tire Pressure should be checked periodically, and
maintained at the levels shown in the chart. Note that
these pressures may differ slightly from the "Max
Inflation" stamped on the side-wall of the tires. The
pressures shown provide proper traction, improve cut
quality, and extend tire life.

Oil Level
To check the transmission oil level, the engine should be
off and observe the oil level in the plastic tube (A,
Figure 2) at the rear of the unit.
There should be 1" to 1-1/2" of oil in the tube when
transmission is cold. If there is no oil in the tube, add
Type F automatic transmission oil a few ounces at a
time. The transmission fill tube is located under the seat
(Figure 3).

Changing Transmission Fluid and Filter

The transmission fluid and filter should be changed only
when performing repair work or if fluid has become
discolored from overheating or contamination. Perform
fluid change every 400 hours of operation if no other
transmission service has been done.
Replace the transmission filter whenever changing
transmission fluid. Make sure filter base and surrounding
area are absolutely clean before removing old filter. Lube
new filter base with clean transmission oil.
1. Drain hydrostatic system by removing drain plug (B,
Figure 2). Drain fluid into a suitable container.
2. Clean the base and replace the filter using an appro-
priate filter wrench (see Figure 9 for filter location).
Reinstall the drain plug.
3. Add Type F transmission fluid through the oil fill
(Figure 3). Capacity is 6 quarts (5.7 L).
4. Run tractor for several minutes until transmission is
warm and check fluid level in tube (A, Figure 2).
