Installing or Replacing a Hard-Disk Drive
The disk-based IP561 comes with one hard-disk drive.
The flash-based IP561 supports one optional hard-disk drive that you can use for logging.
When you purchase your IP561, you can order optional hard-disk drives for factory installation,
or you can order them later and install the hard-disk drive yourself, as described in this chapter.
Disk-based appliances use the disk for Nokia IPSO-VN ; the compact flash memory contains the
boot manager and IPSO-VN.
You can use a hard-disk drive for storing log files. See
Logging"
flash-based IP561 appliances. For the disk-based IP561, you do not need to configure the hard-
disk drive for logging.
This section describes how to install or replace a hard-disk drive.
Before You Begin
Caution
Hard-disk drives are susceptible to damage from shock. Handle them with care.
Caution
To help guard against electrostatic discharge damage, make sure you are properly
grounded by using a grounding wrist strap and following the instructions provided with
the wrist strap before you handle the components or open the appliance or gateway. If
you do not have a grounding wrist strap, make sure you are properly grounded before
you touch any electronic component.
To install or replace a hard-disk drive, you need:
Physical access to the appliance or gateway
Nokia hard-disk drive kit and accompanying supplement
A Phillips-head screwdriver
