You should inspect the analog call station when unpacking the box for possible damage in

Technical Requirements

• Dedicated* POTS** type telephone company line or analog PBX line—you must know if the call
station is on a POTS line or PBX line before you begin programming.
• If connected to a PBX, the analog extension must provide:
1. Minimum of 24V at 20 mA off-hook (no current is drawn on-hook)
2. Either a CPC (Calling Party Control) disconnect pulse (voltage drop at end of call) or 30-
seconds of silence after hang up (no re-order or howler feature)
• If connected to a POTS line, there must be no special features, such as hook-flash, call-waiting, auto-
redial when busy or voicemail. If the telephone company has activated any such features or the
telephone line is "feature ready", contact them to have these features turned off.
* If you are installing multiple units with a limited number of phone lines, you should consider using either the Talkaphone EC-6
Consolidator. The EC-6 allows you to connect up to six (6) Talkaphone analog call stations to a single phone line. Contact your
distributor or call Talkaphone Sales for additional information regarding these units.
** POTS is an acronym for Plain Old Telephone Service.
