Installation AND OPERATION
MODEL V898MSH MAXIMUM SECURITY HOUSING
The infrxmation in this inslruction manual covers the
installation, operation, and maintenance of Model
This unit should be installed only by a qualified techni-
cian using approved materials and wiring practices in
accordance with national, state, and local electrical
codes. Faihire to comply with these instructions may
result in personal injury and/or damage to the equip-
ment.
The V898MSH Maximum Security Housing provides a
tamper-resistant means of concealing a video camera
and is intended for use in high-risk areas where surveil-
lance equipment is vulnerable to physical or criminal
violence. It is designed to be conveniently comer
mounted. The housing accommodates small solid-state

2. INSTALLATION

cameras with fixed-focal-length lenses and offers easy
accessibility for camera and lens adjustment.
A hinged cover with a specially-keyed doubleacting
lock provides an uncomplicated but secure locking sys-
tem. The housing is constructed of welded lOgauge
steel, and the window is impact-resistant Lexan*, mak-
ing it virtually impenetrable. The exterior surface is
painted cast-iron gray.
Provision is made for routing electrical connections,
including AC power lines and video cables, into the
housing. Ihere are four holes for 1/2-&h (1.27 cm)
conduit in the back of the housing. Since the cables pass
directly into the wall, they are not exposed at any point
to vandalism.
In order to open the enclosure for installation, use the
hesagonal Allen wrench supplied with the housing in
conjunction with the key. Turn the key lock to the open
position. Insert the Allen wrench in the opening on the
side of the housing base. Turn it against the spring
tension of the internal latches. 'Ihe unit may now be
opened. Refer to Figure 1.
