Network management is not required to get the stack working, but if
you do use it, you can change and monitor the way the stack works.
By doing this, you may improve the efficiency of the stack and
therefore improve the performance of your network.
You can manage a stack using one of the following methods:
Web interface management — Each Switch unit in the stack has an
internal set of web pages that allow you to manage the stack using
®
a Java
-enabled Web browser.
Command line interface management — Each Switch unit in the
stack has a command line interface that allows you to perform
limited management.
SNMP management — You can manage the stack using any
Network Manager running the Simple Network Management
Protocol (SNMP.
Figure 3-1 shows each of the management methods.
