Maintenance and Troubleshooting

4.1

Maintenance

Under normal operating conditions, no regular maintenance is required except for occasional cleaning of
the front panel and replacement of the battery (option NRT-B3).
4.1.1

Cleaning the Outside

For cleaning the outside of the instrument it is recommended to use a soft, lint-free cloth and a non-a-
lcoholic solvent, eg a commercial detergent.
Note:
In no case use solvents such as nitro thinners, acetone or similar, since these may damage
the front-panel labels or plastic parts.

Insertion and removal of battery
The NiMH battery used in the NRT is a high-performance battery with a lifetime of typically more than
200 charge/discharge cycles.
The battery should be replaced if the operating time with a Sensor NRT-Z44 is less than 4 hours. Spare
batteries are available from Rohde & Schwarz under the designation NRT-Z1 (Order No. 1081.1209.02).
The battery comes complete with the plastic cap used as a holder.
For batteries from the manufacturer FEDCO (type designation ENERGY+ DR30AA), the plastic cap of
the old battery has to be used (carefully lift the locking flaps when removing it).
