Replacing the Batteries

6. Locate the batteries on the circuit card, near the rear of the unit, as shown in FIG. 23.

7. Using the nonconducting tool, carefully slide one battery out of its socket and insert the new
battery, with the positive polarity side (+) facing upwards.
There is a danger of explosion if you replace the battery incorrectly. Replace the
battery with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Dispose
of used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Never recharge or dissasemble the battery, or heat it above 212° F (100° C).
Never solder directly to the battery or expose the contents of the battery to water.
8. Plug the AXlink and optional 12 VDC power supply connector back into the TPI/3 for
approximately one minute. Then, remove the connectors from the TPI/3.
9. Using the non-conducting tool, carefully slide the other battery out of its socket and insert the
new battery with the positive polarity side (+) facing upwards.
10. Replace the cover and tighten the Phillips screws.
11. Replace the input modules and tighten the thumbscrews.
12. Reconnect all connectors to the TPI/3 unit.
