The installation site must be well ventilated. Ensure that air vents on the equipment are not blocked.
Leave at least 50 mm clearance at the rear and both sides of the chassis for heat dissipation.
Ensure that the temperature and humidity at the installation site meet the switch operation
requirements. For the specific requirements, see the
Huawei support website.

5 Installing the Switch

5.1 Requirements for the Cabinet
The dimensions (height x width x depth) of the CloudEngine 9860-4C-EI are 175.0 mm x 442.0 mm x
765.0 mm, and the width complies with industry standards. Therefore, the switch can be installed in a
standard 19-inch cabinet/rack complying with IEC 297. A separately purchased non-standard
cabinet/rack must have sufficient space for chassis installation.
The CE9860-4C-EI must be installed in a 1000 mm or deeper cabinet.
On a switch, the side with power modules and fan modules is the power supply side, and the side
with service ports is the port side. To leave sufficient cabling space:
When optical fibers are configured on all ports, ensure that the vertical distance from the port side to
the interior side of the cabinet door is at least 130 mm.
When high-speed cables are configured on all ports, ensure that the vertical distance from the port
side to the interior side of the cabinet door is at least 150 mm.
The distance from the power supply side to the interior side of the cabinet door is at least 70 mm.
Keep a distance of 550 mm to 855 mm between the front and rear mounting rails.
The cabinet must have a reliable ground point to ground the switch.
5.2 Installing the Switch in a Cabinet
Before You Start
Determine the directions of the port side and power supply side according to actual situations. If the
switch needs to connect to servers in the same cabinet, make port sides of the switch and servers face
the same direction to facilitate cable connections.
The CE9860-4C-EI uses back-to-front airflow, that is, air flows from the port side to the power supply
side.
The CE9860-4C-EI requires 4U of vertical space in a cabinet/rack.
Leave 1U between the bottom of the CE9860-4C-EI and the top of another device to avoid the
expandable guide rails scratching the device.
Installation Procedure
Step 1
Secure positioning pins that match the size of the mounting holes in the cabinet to the
expandable guide rails.
