8 Connecting Cables

Before You Start
The cabling of power cables, Ethernet cables, and high-speed cables must meet the requirements for
routing low-voltage cables separately from high-voltage cables. Metallic strength members and metal
armor used in optical fibers must not be routed into the cabinet.
The switch must be reliably grounded.
Category 5E or higher category Ethernet cables are recommended for ETH electrical ports.
Optical fiber
Optical fibers must be used with optical modules. Connectors of fibers and cables must be clean.
The bend radius of an optical fiber must be at least 20 times larger than its diameter. Generally, the bend radius of
optical fibers should be no less than 40 mm.
100GE optical ports use QSFP+/QSFP28 optical modules and optical fibers, QSFP+/QSFP28 active optical cables
(AOCs), or QSFP+/QSFP28 copper cables.
400GE optical ports use QSFP-DD optical modules and optical fibers, QSFP-DD AOC cables, or QSFP-DD copper
cables.
