General Information

Header Skid Shoes

The position of the header skid shoes can be adjusted up
or down. This adjustment is made manually. See Header
Height in the Operation section for more information.
Optional gauge rollers can also be installed instead of the
skid shoes to help the header move across soft ground.
See Gauge Rollers in the Accessories and Options
section for more information.

Cutterbed

The cutterbed drives a series of opposed rotating discs.
Each disc contains two knives that provide the cutting
action for the machine. It is important that the knives are
installed according to the proper disc rotation for good
cutoff quality. See Knife Replacement in the Lubrication
and Maintenance section for more information.
The disc speed can also change cutoff quality. The disc
speed is relative to and changes with the header speed.
See Header Speed in the Operation section for more
information.

Augers

There is an auger located behind the cutterbed on each
side of the header. The rotating augers are designed to
prevent crop from hesitating on the rear wall and help
feed the crop into the hay conditioner rolls.

Hay Conditioner

The amount of crop conditioning can be adjusted by
changing the roll spacing and roll pressure. A narrower
roll spacing gives an increased level of crop conditioning
while a wider roll spacing gives a decreased level of crop
conditioning. The roll spacing adjustment is made
manually. The roll pressure adjustment is made
hydraulically. See Field Settings in the Operation section
for more information.

Swathboard

The swathboard can be rotated down behind the hay
conditioner to direct the conditioned crop into a wide
swath. This adjustment is made manually. See
Swathboard
in
the
Operation
information.
An optional swathboard actuator kit is available that lets
the operator make the swathboard adjustment from the
cab of the tractor. See Electric Swathboard Actuator in the
Accessories and Options section for more information.

Forming Shields

The forming shields and rear deflector are used to form a
windrow of varying width to fit any operation. The forming
shield can be adjusted to make the windrow wider in
heavy crop or narrower in light crop. The rear deflector
can be adjusted to slow the crop which will let the crop
free fall to the ground in a loose windrow. These
adjustments provide maximum air flow through the
windrow for fast crop drying. These adjustments are
made manually. See Forming Shields in the Operation
section for more information.
