PROGRESSIVE (COMPONENT OUT)
Sets the progressive signal output from
the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jacks
to on or off.
OFF: Outputs interlace signals.
ON: Outputs progressive signals.
For details, see "Changing the format
of the video signal output from
COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jacks"
(page 30).
: OUTPUT
When you use a 16:9 aspect ratio TV, you
can adjust the aspect ratio to watch 4:3
aspect ratio signals.
Change the aspect ratio on your TV if
possible; if not, change the settings on the
system side.
FULL: Select this option when you can
change the aspect ratio on your TV.
NORMAL: Select this option when you
cannot change the aspect ratio on your
TV. A 16:9 aspect ratio signal with black
bands on the left and right sides of the
image appears.
Note
"4:3 OUTPUT" is effective only when you set
"TV TYPE" in "VIDEO SETUP" to "16:9. "

COLOR SYSTEM (VIDEO CD)
(Except for European and Russian
models)
Select the output video signal when you
play back a VIDEO CD.
AUTO: Outputs the video signal
according to the color system of the disc,
either PAL or NTSC.
PAL: Changes the video signal of an
NTSC disc and output it in PAL system.
NTSC: Changes the video signal of a PAL
disc and output it in NTSC system.
PAUSE MODE
(DVD VIDEO and DVD‑R/‑RW in VR
mode only)
AUTO: The picture, including subjects
that move dynamically, is output with no
jitter. Normally select this position.
FRAME: The picture, including subjects
that do not move dynamically, is output
in high resolution.
* Depending on the DVD VIDEO, "4:3
LETTER BOX" may be selected automatically
instead of "4:3 PAN SCAN" or vice versa.
