Function

2.1

Residual Moisture Measurement

The drum rib at the drum welding seam is insulated from the drum hull. A
metal sensor is fitted into this drum rib, and it detects the residual moisture in
laundry as follows:
A carbon sensor measures the electrical resistance between drum rib and
drum casing. Since the laundry is in constant contact with drum rib and drum
casing, the result represents the electrical resistance of the damp laundry.
The residual moisture is calculated based on the electrical resistance of the
damp laundry.
The amount of electrical resistance depends on the type of laundry, the
degree of dampness, the laundry load (weight) and the drum rotating angle
(centrifugal force, rib contact).
A target value for residual moisture is saved for each program. When the
target value is reached, the program is finished.
2.2

Drying-Air NTC (1R30)

If the drying-air NTC detects temperatures lower than 5°F (-15°C) or higher
than 320°F (160°C), then this NTC is defective.
2.3

Heater Bank NTC (2R30)

The electronic uses this NTC (2R30) to regulate the drying air at the drum
perforations (where the air exits the drum).
An open circuit in the heater bank NTC can only be detected at temperatures
higher than 57°F (14°C). Since lower temperatures can exist during dryer
operation, sensor readings will be evaluated only after the heater has been
running for at least 1 minute.
Note: If the heater is defective, fault F4 (heater bank NTC) is issued.
If the heater bank NTC has a short circuit (corresponding to 482°F), the
heater will be switched off immediately.
