OLT-85/OLT-85P Loss Test Set

The SmartClass™ Fiber OLT-85 (P) (optical loss test set) is a high-
performance, easy-to-use instrument with a two or four
wavelength light source combined with a power meter. It is a
universal instrument for singlemode and multimode fibers,
installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Loss can be measured simultaneously at up to four wavelengths.
Quick referencing for all built-in wavelengths can be effected
independent of the current measurement mode. Just connect
the source and power meter with a fiber patch cord.

Loss test sets

A loss test set combines a power meter and a light source in the
same instrument. It is a highly accurate tool and is used to
determine the total amount of loss or attenuation of a fiber link.
With traditional light sources and power meters, the instruments
must either be transferred from one end of the link to the other
or a light source and a power meter are required at both ends of
the link. The technician requires a total of four instruments in
order to perform measurements in both directions. With a loss
test set at each end of the link, tests can be performed in both
directions using only two instruments and without the need to
transfer them from one end to the other.
