Standard COM Driver Software COM Setup Disk (Bundled) The purpose of this software is to allow the CONTEC serial communication boards to be used under Windows in the same way as the standard COM ports on the PC.

  • Page 27 For Windows 2000 and later operating systems, COM ports that are determined by the operating system to not be in use are assigned. The COM ports are not assigned by the CONTEC device driver. Therefore, they may not be assigned starting from CH1 depending on your environment. In this situation, follow the procedure shown below to determine the CH number, and then use the procedure under [Updating the Settings] above to reassign the COM port numbers.

Using a distribution cable When using a COM-2PD-LPE, an alternative to connecting an external device directly to the connector on the board is to use a connection conversion cable.
