This guide is designed to be used as step-by-step instructions for installation and programming
and as a reference for operation and troubleshooting.
Note: Additional technical information and drivers are available on our web site,
www.kontron.com, under Technical Support.
The following is a summary of the chapter contents:
J Chapter 1, Introduction, provides an overview of the USB-16REL adapter and a list
of what's provided with the adapter.
J Chapter 2, Installation, describes how to install the adapter software and
cabling.
J Chapter 3, Technical Description, provides an overview of the USB-16REL
features, software, serial string identification, reed relays, and relay
specifications.
J Chapter 4, Programming, describes the application programmers interface (API)
and relative addressing vs. absolute addressing. This chapter also provides the pin
assignments for the removable terminal block and adapter enclosure layout views.
J Chapter 5, Specifications, lists the temperature, humidity, power consumption,
and mean time between failure (MTBF) specifications.
J Appendix A, Troubleshooting, provides some steps that can fix most common
problems.
J Appendix B, Board Layout Drawing, provides the board layout drawing for the
USB-16REL adapter.
