Shooting with the Camera Alone

Shooting a Snapshot or a Movie

Use the procedure below to shoot with the camera.
1.
Turn on the camera (page 19).
The camera will start up in the same recording
mode it was in the last time you turned it off.
• Under initial settings, the camera will enter the
Auto mode.
2.
Point the camera at the subject.
3.
Shoot the image.
. To shoot a snapshot
Press the [r/SLOW] button. This will cause the [STATUS] lamp to turn on and off.
. To shoot a movie
Press the [
] button to start recording. Press the [
recording. The [STATUS] lamp will flash red while movie recording is in progress.
Movie Recording Time
When shooting a long movie, multiple files are stored as you shoot. How often a file is
stored depends on the movie quality setting.
• FHD: A file is stored every 29 minutes (maximum) of movie length.
• Other than FHD: A file is stored every 4 GB (maximum) of data generated.
IMPORTANT!
• Spending a long time using movie recording will cause the camera to become
slightly warm to the touch. This is normal and does not indicate malfunction.
• Movie recording also records audio. Note the points below
when shooting a movie.
– Take care that the microphone is not blocked by your
fingers, etc.
– Good audio recording results are not possible when the
camera is too far away from what you are trying to
record.
