MAINTENANCE

Preparing for Maintenance

IMPORTANT: Before tipping the mower to change
the oil or replace the blade, allow the fuel tank to run
dry through normal usage. If you must tip the mower
prior to running out of fuel, use a hand fuel pump to
remove the fuel. Always tip the mower onto its side,
with the air fi lter up.
WARNING: Tipping the mower may cause the fuel to
leak. Fuel is fl ammable and explosive and can cause
personal injury.
1. Shut off the engine and wait for all moving parts to
stop.
2. Remove the electric start button.
3. Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark
plug.
4. After performing the maintenance procedure (s),
connect the spark plug wire to the spark plug.

Air Filter Service

WARNING: Never start and run the engine with the
air fi lter removed.
NOTE: Do not use pressurised air or solvents to clean

the fi lter. Pressurised air can damage the fi lter and
solvents will dissolve the fi lter.
The air fi lter system uses a foam fi lter with a pre-
cleaner. The pre-cleaner can be washed and reused.
1. Loosen the fastener (A) that holds the cover (B).
Remove the cover.
2. To prevent debris from falling into the carburettor,
carefully remove the pre-cleaner (C) and the fi lter
(D) from the air fi lter base.
3. To loosen debris, gently tap the fi lter (D) on a hard
surface. If the fi lter is excessively dirty, replace with
a new fi lter.
4. Remove the pre-cleaner (C) from the fi lter (D).
5. Wash the pre-cleaner (C) in liquid detergent and
water. Allow the pre-cleaner to thoroughly air dry.
Do not oil the pre-cleaner.
6. Assemble the dry pre-cleaner (C) from the fi lter
(D).
7.
Install the fi lter (D) and the pre-cleaner (C) onto the
air fi lter base. Make sure the fi lter fi ts securely on
the air fi lter base.
8. Install the cover (B) and secure with the fastener
(A). Make sure the fastener is tight.
