Chapter 2 : Unpacking and Installation

Items You Need to Provide

The following items are not included, and you will need to provide:
Ethernet cable (shielded CAT 5 UTP cable if PoE is used)
4-20 mA cable (necessary only if you will use 4-20 mA signal output)
Computer
Facility Net software
Modbus TCP client software
Power cables, IEC type C 13, necessary for local power

Installation

The following instructions are included to guide you through the installation process.
Please pay close attention to the NOTE, CAUTION, and WARNING text.
Installation includes the following steps:
Selecting an Appropriate Location
Positioning or Mounting the Unit
Connecting the Power Supply
Connecting a Communications Cable
Connecting Sample Tubing or Sample Probe (as applicable)
Attaching Vacuum Tubing
NOTE:

Automated Laser Power Control

Airnet II 4-Channel particle sensor units contain an automated laser power control that
automatically shuts off the laser power after 10 seconds of continuous bad flow (flow
rate that is ± > 15% of the specified flow rate).
The laser power is restored after 10 seconds of continuous good flow.

Detector Board Monitor

The Airnet II 4-Channel particle sensor has an automatic monitor to assure the
detector board is operating correctly. In many applications the normal condition is no
particle counts being detected for an extended period of time.

If installation of the Airnet II 4-Channel particle sensor will
prevent access to its RS-232 port (needed for configuration),
configure the particle sensor first and then install the unit. See
Setting Configuration Addresses for Ethernet on page 3-2 or
Configuring 4-20 mA Outputs on page 4-2.
