Note: If the unit is being installed where there is no room for the fireplace to be
recessed into the wall then wall must be framed out, and a chase built. When fram-
ing out the wall don't forget to consider the impact of the taped drywall corners. We
suggest that you add an extra 3" for each side for a total of 6" to the widest part of
the mantle (the hearth not the shelf).
Also– because the Corvallis is a non combustible mantel, there is no need for in-
stalling the cement board.
The fireplace front must not
be installed flush with the
wall, as there will not be
enough
adjustment
front to bring it flush with the
back of the surround. The
fireplace should be installed
so that the face of the Ventana
is 2 1/4" from the
wall.
This
measurement
quite critical to insure a good
fit against the back of the
slips. Do a dry fit of one leg
and a slip in position to check
that you have the engine
correctly located.
