The following prerequisites must be met to set up an Internet connection in the
network.
A domain name server (DNS) is available on the network connected to the
WAN port.
The Gateway's WAN port is configured via a DHCP server (Dynamic Host
Configuration Protocol).
If a DHCP server is not available, the IP address, subnet mask, Gateway
address, and DNS server address must be configured manually via the
Gateway's local user interface.
If the Gateway is connected via a proxy network, the settings must be
configured manually via the Gateway's local user interface.
The IP address, subnet mask, Gateway address, and DNS server address are
configured under 'Network' > 'IP settings'.
The proxy IP and port number are configured under 'Network' > 'Proxy'.
These settings are completed automatically for direct Internet connections.
Your Siemens partner organization has been registered in the Sinteso Portal
and you are a member of that organization.
The Connect X300 Gateway can be registered separately from the product
activation in Account Manager. The registration must, however, be completed by
the time the product is activated in Account Manager. Proceed as follows:
1. Setup the Connect X300 Gateway
2. Register the Connect X300 Gateway
3. (Optional) Setup an IP, DNS, and proxy address
We recommend a direct connection to the Internet via Ethernet to register the
gateway.
1. Connect the Gateway to a DC 24 V power supply.
2. Connect the computer to the Connect X300 Gateway using Ethernet
connection X1P1.
3. Connect the Connect X300 Gateway to the Internet using Ethernet connection
X2P1.
4. Switch on the gateway and wait until LED WD and LED L1 are permanently
green.
Information: This process may take up to 5 minutes.
5. Start the 'Chrome' Internet browser and connect the browser to
'169.254.169.254'.
If the computer fails to connect to '169.254.169.254', check to ensure that
the network interface is set to DHCP and any other network card (e.g.
WLAN) is disabled.
