Introduction This manual is valid for the MID variants of xChargeIn. The pictured devices used in this manual are visual examples. The figures and explanations contained in this manual refer to a typical device design. The devices used by you may differ in their appearance.
Purpose of the document This document describes the MID-specific functions and features of the rele- vant variants of xChargeIn. The document is intended for charging station operators, calibration authorities or similar institutions. This document describes the specific functions and features of the relevant variants of xChargeIn.
Description of the MID device Description of the MID device The MID variants are approved for the measurement of active energy for billing purposes in accordance with the European Measuring Instruments Di- rective (MID) 2014/32/EU. The MID variants have an active power meter (certified energy meter) and are specifically indicated on the type plate.
Description of the MID device xChargeIn Type plate The MID variants are specifically identified as such on the type plate. The MID variants with national authorization are specifically identified as such on the type plate. Position of the type plate The type plate is located on the left at the top of the charging station.
Description of the MID device Meter seal The meter seal is located on the lower right screw of the front part with the housing cover removed. The meter seal has the following number on it: 3002 2073 ... Front part ...
Description of the MID device xChargeIn Overview of MID variants The type and features of the charging station can be determined by the product designation on the type plate. Charging stations that are approved as active power meters in accordance...
Display Display Display The MID variants have an LED dot matrix display. For the calibration validity of the charging station, a correct display and sufficient readability are re- quired. Fig. 3-3: Display The display may show different information depending on the operating sta- tus (e.g., software version, IP address, authorization request).
Active power meter Active power meter Information The maximum meter reading is 99 999, after reaching this value the meter starts from zero again. Measurement principle The measurement of the transmitted energy takes place by means of pas- sive transducers on all phases to be contacted.
Active power meter xChargeIn Operational readiness The active power meter is active in all available operating modes in which power can be delivered (including commissioning mode and MID test mode). 6.1 Behavior of the charging station in MID test mode for an overview of the operating modes.
Read off device information and meter reading Read off device information and meter reading No special access rights are required for reading off the information. Information The required energy for setting the charging station by the manufacturer and for the commissioning process are part of the total energy. For this rea- son, the meter reading will not have the value "0"...
Read off device information and meter reading xChargeIn Trigger information display via brightness sensor To trigger the information display, the brightness sensor must be covered ("dark") and illuminated ("light") in a defined sequence. Each state ("dark" or "light") must last between 1 and 5 seconds.
Calibrate the device Calibrate the device A calibration of the charging station may only be carried out by a specifically authorized calibration authority. A calibration may only be carried out on a charging station whose meter seal on the front part is intact. To carry out cal-...

Calibrate the device Behavior of the charging station in MID test mode In MID test mode, the charging station behaves as follows: ● The contactor is switched on for 3 hours to allow power transmission for test purposes. ●...
Calibrate the device xChargeIn Activate/deactivate MID test mode MID test mode is activated and deactivated in the charging station connec- tion panel. To access the connection panel, the housing cover and the con- nection panel cover must be removed. For a description of how to remove the covers, see "Operating Instructions".
Calibrate the device 5) Switch on the supply voltage of the charging station. MID test mode is deactivated. Affixing the calibration plate The calibration plate must be affixed so that it is clearly visible at the bottom right of the front part.
Appendix: Access protection xChargeIn Appendix: Access protection The charging station is accessible to different target groups with different knowledge. Depending on the target group, defined interactions with the charging station are possible, based on the required knowledge. The following target groups are distinguished: ●...

Appendix: Access protection Connecting To access the power supply of the charging station, the terminal cover has to be removed. After the first commissioning, the electrician can secure the terminal cover by means of a seal. Internal components of the charging station and the active power meter are still protected by the non-removable front part.
