The machine has been designed and built according to the selection of the harmonising standards to be observed as well as other technical specifications. The operating instructions are intended to describe the operation and handling of the EFA pneumatically operated breastbone saw and provide the necessary safety instructions.
Operating instructions User group Only instructed and/or trained personnel over 16 years of age are allowed to set up or operate the EFA pneumatically operated breastbone saw. Furthermore, it is imperative that everyone working with and on the machine has read the operating instructions and observes them.
If the EFA pneumatically operated breastbone saw is not used as intended or is modified without the approval of Schmid & Wezel GmbH, persons could be injured and the machine damaged.

Operating instructions 3.3 Nameplate The nameplate is attached to the guide and contains information on the machine performance. The following figure shows an example of the nameplate for the pneumatically operated breastbone saw EFA 57. Year of manufacture Part number Serial number Part no.
No other workplace should protrude into this area, otherwise there is a danger of injury due to the actions carried out with the EFA pneumatically operated breastbone saw. The lighting of the workplace must be at least 500 lux. The EFA pneumatically operated breastbone saw is delivered from the factory ready for use. Caution! Danger from unintentional switch-on!
Operate the EFA pneumatically operated breastbone saw only with clean, water-free and oiled air! Insert the air hose (1) as far as it will go into the screw-in fitting (2) on the valve housing (3) of the EFA pneumatically operated breastbone saw.

Separate the EFA pneumatically operated breastbone saw from the spring balancer and put it in a protected place. When you interrupt work, place the EFA pneumatically operated breastbone saw flat to the side so that the handle is not under load.

Tighten the hexagon screws (1) together with washer (2) using a socket wrench. Observe the tightening torque of 20 Nm. Connect the EFA pneumatically operated breastbone saw to the compressed air supply and carry out a test run. Check guide.
Pneumatically operated breastbone saw EFA 57 Operating instructions Setting of the ledges/slider clearance After changing the saw blade or if necessary (see chapter 8, list of malfunctions) the slider clearance on the ledge must be remeasured and readjusted if necessary.

Note! Observe all safety instructions. To ensure the longest possible service life and low wear and tear, the EFA pneumatically operated breastbone saw must be checked and serviced regularly. Service and maintenance work must only be carried out by instructed personnel.
Do not use a steam blaster or high-pressure cleaner! Do not immerse the device in water! Clean the EFA pneumatically operated breastbone saw after each shift with a cloth, brush and warm water (40 °C … 55 °C). For thorough cleaning, the saw blade must be removed and the housing of the EFA pneumatically operated breastbone saw must be opened.
Check whether all of the residues have been removed. If necessary, repeat the cleaning process. Assembly: Apply a thin coat of EFA special grease to all sliding surfaces (guide, guide ledges (6), piston rod (7)). Screw the cover tightly onto the housing again with the 6 hexagon screws.
If the performance decreases or after approx. 400 operating hours, the rotor blades of the pneumatic motor must be checked for wear and replaced if necessary (in this case we recommend sending the EFA pneumatically operated breastbone saw to our Service department).
Only use genuine EFA spare parts! Oil mist lubricator For proper functioning and to maintain the appropriate service life of the EFA pneumatically operated breastbone saw, the oil mist lubricator (filter pressure reducer) must be checked at regular intervals (1 x per week).
