Adding PCI Cards
64-bit PCI-X slot
The 1100 comes with a riser card that supports one standard size 64-bit, 66 MHz PCI-X
(3.3V) card. This riser card allows a single PCI-X card to sit at a 90 degree angle so it can
fit inside the chassis.
PCI card installation
The system should be powered down when adding or removing PCI cards. Begin by
removing the top cover of the chassis. You will see a metal enclosure that houses the riser
card. Remove this housing by lifting the two plastic levers at either end and pulling the
housing up and out of the chassis. The riser card is attached to the inside top of the
housing. Release the latch that secures the PCI slot I/O shields to the housing by pulling
it away from the housing. Remove the shield and insert a PCI-X card into the slot on the
riser card, pushing down with your thumbs evenly on both sides of the card. After the
card has been added, push the latch back into position. Replace the housing in the server
board making sure the plastic levers properly catch on the chassis, then push them down
to lock the housing in place. Finish by replacing the top chassis cover and powering up
the system.
Note:
The PCI slot I/O shields protect the server board and its components from EMI and aid in
proper ventilation, so make sure there is always a shield covering the slot.
