Perform the individual operations of the trunk grille fitting on both sides of the
car in the same way.
Caution During the drilling operations suck up the originated chips to
prevent them from falling in the safety belt winding mechanism, or to
avoid damaging the inside trunk lining.
Cut out the attached matrixes (J) and (H).

Assembly procedure

Fastening points for fixing the trunk grille in the side trunk carpeting.
- 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 -
- Attach the template (J) for drilling the holes into the side trunk lining with the folded part
to the eye for fastening the backrest of the back seat. The rest of the template must copy
precisely the shape (rounding) of the trunk lining -arrows-.
- Make visual check of correct placement of the template.
- Hold the template tight.
Advice. Using a pin, check the correctness of placing the template (the
position of the future hole). Proceed as follows: with an upholstery pin
punch several times the trunk lining to make sure that under the
marked spot there is a hole in the vehicle wheel cap sheet.
- Remove the template and put it to a suitable place. Then use it to mark placement of the
hole on the other side of the car.
- At the spot where the pin is stabbed drill holes of 26 mm diameter using the tool
MTX 9-193/B into the side lining of the trunk.
Advice. Drill in the trunk lining only. Correctly drilled hole in the trunk
side lining should be homocentric to the hole in the vehicle wheel cap
sheet.

- Rivet the riveting nut (C) into the holes in the vehicle wheel cap sheet. Use riveting pliers,
e.g. V.A.G. 1765B, Order no. ASE 451 499 00 000, for the riveting.

- Snap a cap (F) in the cornered holes (of the vehicle wheel cap sheet) next to the riveted nut.
- 10, 11 -
- Position the template (H) for marking the hole into the C-pillar panel carefully according
to the description on the template itself.
- Hold the template firmly and, using a pin, mark the position of the future hole.
- Remove the template and put it to a suitable place. Then use it to mark placement of the
hole on the the other side of the car.
