General device functionality

4.4.1

Switching on the device

>
Switch on the Viola 2 C IR by pressing the On/Off button (1).
After switching on for the first time, you need first to confirm the data
protection stipulations and, if required, then start the initial set-up wizard. To
do so, please refer to Section 10.3.
4.4.2

Switching off the device

>
By pressing the On/Off button you can switch the device to standby mode.
This then displays the time. The display brightness in standby mode can be
adjusted as described in Section 10.5.
4.4.3

Selecting the source

>
Press the MODE button (2) to switch between the DAB+ (Digital Radio), FM,
Internet radio and Podcasts sources. Press the button repeatedly to do so.
Alternatively:
>
Hold down the Info/Menu button until the menu opens.
>
Use the Selection knob to select the Main menu item, then press the
Selection knob.
>
Use the Selection knob to select the source you want then confirm your
selection by pressing the Selection knob.
4.4.4

Setting the volume

>
Adjust the volume using the Volume knob. Turning to the right increases the
volume; turning to the left reduces it.
The set volume is shown on the display.

Retrieving visual displays

>
By repeatedly pressing the Info/Menu button, the following information can
be viewed and scrolled through:

Internet radio:

Description, language with location, Bit-rate with Codec and sampling rate, playback
buffer, date.
DAB+
DLS: continuous text with additional information that the stations may provide, genre,
ensemble/multiplex (group name), station name with frequency, signal strength with
signal error rate, Bit-rate with Codec and sound format, date.
FM mode:
RT radio text (if transmitted), PTY - programme type, frequency, date.

5 Menu navigation

Navigation mostly involves using the Info/Menu buttons and turning/pressing the
Selection knob:
Turning >
Navigating in menus (right: Scroll down, left: Scroll up), changing
values (right: Increase value, left: Reduce value).
Pressing >
Confirm/save selection.
The menu is separated into the respective submenu for the selected source
containing the functions available for this source and the main menu for device-
specific settings.
Turn the Selection knob to navigate within menus. To confirm the selection, press
the Selection knob.
"*" highlights the current selection.
Press Info/Menu button or Back button to go back a step in the menus or settings.
Closing a menu: Press the Info/Menu button repeatedly (depending on which menu
you are in) or wait approx. 15 seconds.
5.1

Main menu

You can use the main menu to access all of the Viola 2 C IR's functions and settings.
>
Hold down the Info/Menu button until the menu opens.
All the settings for the currently active source are now displayed to start with.
Use the Selection knob to select the System settings item and press the
Selection knob to open the system settings.
6 Internet radio
The Viola 2 C IR is equipped with an Internet radio receiver.
In order to receive Internet radio stations/broadcasts, you need a WiFi router with
Internet access.
>
Press the Mode button repeatedly until Internet Radio appears on the display.
Alternatively:
>
Select Main Menu > Select Mode > Internet Radio
If you are starting Internet radio for the first time without having configured
a WLAN/WiFi connection, the search wizard appears which shows you all
the WLAN stations within range. Use the Selection knob to select the WiFi
network you recognise and enter the relevant password using the displayed
keyboard. Then select
. If the password entered is correct, a connection
to the network is now established. The signal bar in the status bar
display indicates whether the connection has been established. To do so,
please refer to Section 10.2.
