Port Address Translation

This feature (PAT) enables many workstations on the LAN to
share a single public address when accessing information
over a public network (Internet). Enable this feature if you
have a Single User Account with your ISP and disable it if
you have been provided public IP addresses to use on the
LAN.

WAN IP Information

Your Service provider provides you with the public IP
address(es) to use on your WAN Interface or on the LAN.
If you select:
PPP as your Network Service, the WAN IP addresses are

dynamically learned from the Remote PPP Server. The
OCR 812 does not prompt you for WAN IP Information
if you selected PPP.
RFC 1483 and have enabled Network Address

Translation (NAT), you are prompted for the WAN
interface Address. This is the single public address that
is shared by all privately addressed clients on your LAN
when they access the public network. You are also
prompted for a corresponding netmask, which defaults
to a class C (255.255.255.0) value.
RFC 1483 and have not enabled NAT, you can configure

a WAN Interface address or a Remote Subnet address
and corresponding netmask.
NOTE: When selecting RFC 1483 with MAC encapsulation,
you must specify the Remote Gateway Address.
If you have enabled PAT, you are prompted for the WAN
interface. If you did not enable PAT, the WAN interface
address is optional. If you do not configure the WAN
Interface address, the OCR 812 LAN ethernet address
should be a public address.
