    The following are new features for the current release: SuperNAT SuperNAT is an address translation protocol that is activated when data packets arrive destined for a public address that matches both NAT and PAT rules. SuperNAT first tries to use NAT address translations. If this does not work, PAT address translation is used.

Encryption Protocols Microsoft Point-to-Point Encryption (MPPE) encrypts data in PPTP VPN connections. MPPE provides privacy to a tunnel. When you use MPPE and PPTP together, a VPN is created. You can set the MPPE protocol on the Tunnel Modify web page using the Encryption Algorithm field.

    You want to change the configuration. You want to use Instant Update when a software update to your OCR 812 is posted on the 3Com web site. You can install Instant Update from the CD at any time. For more information, see the OfficeConnect Remote 812 Online User’s Guide.

    Configuring the OfficeConnect Remote 812 Manager Installing Instant Update You may optionally choose to install the 3Com Instant Update utility. Instant Update periodically checks the 3Com web site for a new release of the OCR 812 code. When a new release of the code is found, Instant Update copies it to your workstation.

You need to enter a static address that agrees with other addresses on your LAN.

    Starting the OfficeConnect Remote 812 Manager Network Service Your Service provider should provide you with the type of Network Service to configure for your WAN connection. The OCR 812 supports the following Network Services: PPP — The Point to Point Protocol is a WAN interface protocol between the OCR 812 and your ISP’s Remote Server.

    Port Address Translation This feature (PAT) enables many workstations on the LAN to share a single public address when accessing information over a public network (Internet). Enable this feature if you have a Single User Account with your ISP and disable it if you have been provided public IP addresses to use on the LAN.

    Resetting the Configuration of Your Router To reset your unit and select a different boot option: 1 Unplug the power cable from your OCR 812. 2 Set the appropriate DIP switch. General Testing IP Testing Advanced Troubleshooting General Testing After configuring the OCR 812 for remote site connection(s), follow these steps to test the connections. Step 1: Check Interface Status 1 Be sure the DSL cable is connected to the OCR 812 and the phone jack, and then check the ADSL Status LED on the front of the unit.

From the OfficeConnect Remote 812 Manager “Home page,” select Monitor > Networks > Network Status. You should see one active network for each of the LAN protocols configured (IP, IPX, and/or Bridge).

    IP Testing Use a PING command to make sure the OCR 812 can reach the remote router. You can PING by using one of the following methods: Using the Ping command from the OfficeConnect Remote 812 Manager tests the connection from the OCR 812 to the network.
