Error messages
It is time for the regular
maintenance. Please contact your
dealer to make an appointment.

8.2 Troubleshooting

The following information will help you to remedy possible machine faults yourself.
Check whether:
• The upper and bobbin thread are correctly threaded.
• The needle is inserted correctly.
• the needle size is correct; see needle/thread table page. (see page 53)
• The needle point and shaft are undamaged.
• The machine has been cleaned and thread residue has been removed.
• The hook race has been cleaned.
• Thread remnants have been trapped between the thread tension discs and under the bobbin case spring.

Explanation
The machine needs maintenance.
The message appears after the
programmed service interval has
expired.
Important information:Having
your machine cleaned and
serviced properly at the
appropriate times ensures its
proper functioning and a long
service life. Ignoring the terms
can affect the operating life and
restrict the guarantee. The cost
allocation for maintenance work
is regulated nationally. Consult
your dealer or your servicing shop
for more details.
Cause
Upper thread too tight or too
loose.
Needle blunt or bent.
Needle substandard.
Thread substandard.
Needle/thread ratio incorrect.
Incorrectly threaded.
Remedy
> Contact a specialist BERNINA dealer.
> Delete the message temporarily by touching the «ESC»
icon.
When you clear the message three times, it will not be
displayed until the next service interval is reached.
Remedy
> Reduce/increase the upper thread tension.
> Check the bobbin thread tension with the Bobbin thread
tension gauge.
> Use a new BERNINA quality needle.
> Use a new BERNINA quality needle.
> Use quality thread.
> Match the needle with the thread size.
> Check the upper and bobbin thread.
