Whet her a w ired or w ireless connect ion is int ended, it is recom m end t o est ablish a wired
connect ion t o t he print er first . This will allow access t o t he print ers int ernal web pages t o
configure t he set t ings necessary for a t ypical wireless connect ion. I f a wired connect ion is not or
can not be achieved all connect ion param et ers can also be set using t he NETira CT configurat ion
ut ilit y, see sect ion 3.3.
The print er m akes I P request s at pow er- up, so before m aking a net work connect ion t o t he print er
consider how your I P addr essing needs t o be assigned. The I P addressing of t he print er can be
configured in one of t wo ways: Using a st at ic I P Address or Using I P Discovery ( DHCP, Boot P, or
RARP) . At fa ct or y de fa u lt se t t in gs I P D I SCOVERY is EN ABLED ( D H CP) .

Wit h Print er Off, connect t he net work cable t hen t urn on Print er.

The print er will now search for a DHCP server. Once t he print er has obt ained an I P address
t he icon
will be displayed signifying t hat an I P address has been obt ained. Allow up t o 90
seconds for t he print er t o ret rieve an I P addr ess.

At t his point it is recom m ended t o print a Net work Report .
This Net work Report is generat ed by t he print er and list s
im port ant default inform at ion such as t he I P and MAC
Addresses as well as SSI D for wireless equipped car ds. To
print t he 'Net work Report ': Press t he PAUSE, FEED ,
CAN CEL but t ons at t he sam e t im e.

Verify t he print er has obt ained a valid I P address for your
net work. I f a valid I P address was not obt ained or you wish
t o use a different st at ic address t his can be set via t he
print er's front panel.
Ent er t he print er's m enu and navigat e t o t he Com m unicat ions/ Net work I nt erface/ Wired
Et hernet m enu branch.
Set t he " I P Discovery" m enu it em t o " Use St at ic Addresses" .
Set t he " I P Address" m enu it em t o desired value, cont inue t he sam e procedur e wit h
" Subnet Mask" and " Default Gat eway" m enu it em s if necessary. Exit t he print ers m enu.
Cycle power t o t he print er, upon st art - up t he print er will connect t o t he net work using t he
new param et ers you provided.
Once t he previous st eps have been successfully com plet ed you m ay now use t he I P Address t o:
