Frequent starting and stopping of the SL600 stair lift after new batteries were installed could be due to the lift being stopped away from the top or bottom charging stations, causing low battery voltage. The lift should be moved to either end of the rail to ensure proper charging, as batteries will not charge when the lift is off or not at a charge station.
A flashing red light on the charger indicates a service issue. To troubleshoot, turn the "ON/OFF" switch to "OFF" and then back to "ON." The lights should sequence red-amber-green. If the light does not return to green, contact a service representative.

I own a SL 600 stair lift. It is about 18 months old. When ascending, the light on the arm flashes red and beeps although it still moves up. This does not happen when decending.

If the light on the arm of a Harmar Mobility SL600 stair lift flashes red and beeps while ascending, it likely indicates a safety sensor issue or an obstruction. Check for anything blocking the lift’s path, especially downhill. If the LED indicator is not green, inspect the safety sensors. If the issue continues, turn the lift off and back on; the lights should cycle red-amber-green. If it does not return to green, contact a service representative.

The Harmar Mobility SL600 lift could stop while going up and only resume after releasing and re-engaging the switch due to one of the following reasons:
1. Seat Swiveled Out of Position – If the seat is not fully locked in place, the lift may stop as a safety precaution. 2. Edge Safety Detected (SL600FR only) – If the edge safety sensor is triggered, the lift will stop until the obstruction is cleared. 3. Footrest Obstruction – If the footrest encounters an obstacle, the lift may stop until the obstruction is removed. 4. Current Overload Condition – A temporary excessive load condition could cause the lift to stop and reset. 5. Low Battery Voltage – If battery voltage is low, the lift may stop intermittently.
Releasing and re-engaging the switch may reset the fault and allow the lift to continue operation.
