DVD operating problems–Windows XP
If you experience a problem playing DVDs, you may be able
to fix the problem yourself.
For general problems playing a DVD title, try the following
steps:
1
Check that the disc is in a format that the drive supports
(DVD-ROM, DVD-R, or DVD-RW).
2
Ensure that the drive is properly installed in the Slim
SelectBay. It must be inserted completely.
3
Ensure that the DVD-ROM disk is properly inserted in
the drive tray.
4
Ensure that the Display properties are not True Color (24-
bit). If it is set to 24-bit color, there will be a video format
error. To verify your display settings:
5
Clean the DVD disc and try again.
A dirty drive can also cause audio problems. If you have tried
several discs and all fail, consider sending your drive to an
authorized service provider to get it cleaned.
Click Start, Appearance and Themes, Control Panel,
then click Display.
Click on the Settings tab and check the Colors drop-
down. It should be set to High Color (16 bit).
If it is not set to High Color, change the settings to High
Color (16 bit) and click OK.
