133) Must I upgrade the firmware in my Proximity
watch?
134) If I send my watch in to upgrade the firmware
to version 2.5, will I have to send my watch back
again?

If you continue to use iOS5 or iOS6, firmware
upgrading is not required to maintain Bluetooth®
functionality.
If you upgrade to iOS7 or higher, or purchase a new
iPhone® with iOS 7 or higher installed, the firmware
in your Proximity watch must be upgraded to
maintain Bluetooth® functionality between your
watch and iPhone®.
Even if you choose not to upgrade the firmware
in your Proximity watch, only the Bluetooth
functionality is affected. Other features such as the
time, chronograph and calendar will operate.
Yes, but only on additional time. There are two
free firmware upgrades currently in development.
You do not need to send your watch in for both
upgrades, only one or the other.
Firmware Version 2.0 (released January, 2014)
This version builds upon firmware version 1.1 and
adds firmware updating through the Bluetooth
connection through the Proximity App.
This firmware is compatible with iOS5, iOS6 and
iOS7
This firmware versione prepares your Proximity
watch for self upgrading to firmware version 2.5
Firmware version 2.5 (released March 10, 2014)
This version requires your iPhone to be running on
iOS7 or higher and builds upon firmware version
2.0 adding:
SMS, Facebook® and Twitter® notifications
Email notification for all email types entered
in the Apple® Email App built into the iPhone®.
These notifications are activated/deactivated right
through the iOS7 or hither Notification center.
If you upgraded to firmware version 2.0, this
upgrade can be achieved between the Bluetooth
connection through the Proximity App v2.5.
If you skipped firmware version 2.0, you will
need to send your watch to Citizen for firmware
upgrading.
